Sillery Sands near Lynmouth
Sillery Sands near Lynmouth, pastel, 29 x 22 ins
This is a painting of a beach very close to Lynmouth, as it was on a very hot day at the end of July, 2003. Despite the beautiful weather, the beach was nearly deserted (it`s a steep climb down to it from the coastal footpath). I went there with a friend and we had a wonderful swim.
I have included this painting because - you may be surprised to know - there is a turbine in this view.
I didn`t actually paint it, not because it bothered me, but because it was too small to notice from this distance. It is in the sea, not far from the cliff near the skyline, and it is quite innocuous.  If all turbines were like this one, we wouldn`t need to be so worried.
