A big no to turbines - read article in Okehampton Times

News has emerged (July 2008) of a proposal by Scottish Power for 15 giant turbines about 400ft high on Chilla Moor, near Halwill Junction.
Chilla Moor is a high and open area of land between Halwill Junction and Highampton. Other nearby villages likely to be affected by this development  are Beaworthy and Black Torrington, as well as Sheepwash, Odham, Northlew and Chilla.
Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are also quite close by.

When I did the walk, there were no turbine proposals in this quiet and peaceful area, but  I was probably no more than 4 or 5 miles away at two points on the walk, firstly between Ashwater and Holsworthy, and secondly when at Hatherleigh.

Here is a link to their website, which is a very good one.
